Update on hair loss from Covid 19

If you read my blog on my personal story on hair loss after I had Covid 19 you may find this interesting, one year on.

I previously spoke of the bundle of lotions and potions I bought in the hope that my hair would grow back again. I watched Youtube video and read about other people who had the same problem as me. I was able to put a name to it too, 'Telogen Effluvium" This for me was massive as I then had something to work on. I found a Youtuber who I could totally relate to, Lauren Newly. She helped me so so much and this leads to my story today.

Lauren said to ditch the shampoos, vitamins and tonics and to just wait. I got a carrier bag and put everything in there, many pounds worth, and threw it in the bin. What a waste of money I thought, but I knew what she said made total sense. Nothing will stop the hair from falling once the root is dead, total logic.

I sat back and waited. This was April time and she said it could take up to a year for the hair to grow back. A YEAR! Well, time flies as we know and it is now just over a year since I had covid and guess what, yes, I have lots of new hair growth. I had a hair cut in September and Jo told me she could see lots of new growth and I had noticed some baby hairs around my forehead. I got to Christmas and these hairs were really visible and sticking up in all directions. I didn't care, my hair was growing back and that's all that mattered. I had a hair appointment last weekend and Jo said my hair was definitely on its way back and it was around ear length, the new growth. I can see how my hair is thicker again at my parting too.

So being the most impatient of people I learned to be patient and it was well worth it. I feel that my hair will be back to 'normal' by the end of this year and the wispy ends will be cut off in the next appointment.

Please email me if you would like any help with hair loss as I know how distressing it can be.

Have a great Sunday and rest of your week.
